SITE DESCRIPTION <br />SOILS INFORMATION <br />The following soils and vegetation information was obtained <br />the basic soils and vegetation information obtained from the Web <br />Soil Survey for Huerfano County. The pages from this web site <br />show the general soil properties and vegetation capabilities for <br />the site. The soil on the site is shown on the Soils Map, repro- <br />duced on page 10. <br />There is type of soil found on the site, the FARISTIA VERY <br />GRAVELY SAND LOAM, 10 To 35`$ SLOPES. The description in the soils <br />information starting on page 13 is from the NRCS's Web Soil Site <br />internet page for Huerfano County. The upper 0 to 4 inch layer <br />of the soil is a brown to dark brown loam underlain by 121 inches <br />of course sandy loam that is needed to produce meet the <br />specifications needed for the road project. Our plan is to <br />salvage the upper 4 inches for use as growth medium on the <br />disturbed area. Two areas covering 3.03 acres, has been used by <br />the concrete batch plant operation under a lease with the land- <br />owners and is disturbed. There is no topsoil or growth medium on <br />the areas. <br />ON SITE VEGETATION INFORMATION <br />1. Current vegetation cover percent is: 25 to 45% <br />2. Topsoil depth on site averages: 0 to 4 inches <br />3. Seeding dates recommended: October 15 to May 1. <br />4. Seed mix to be used for area: <br />Non -irrigated grass seed mix <br />Seed <br />Rate PLS/acre <br />Lovington Blue Grama <br />1.0 <br />Indian Ricegrass <br />4.0 <br />Sand Dropseed <br />0.1 <br />Yellow Sweetclover <br />2.0 <br />total <br />7.1 <br />This seed mix and seeding rate was designed by the Soil Conserva- <br />tion Service for use on the adjoining mine (M-1978-283). <br />The seed will be drilled where possible and doubled if <br />broadcast. It is a dryland site with no special or unique <br />characteristics form other area in the vicinity with mostly <br />grasses, sage brush, Pinon Pine, yucca and forbs covering the <br />area. Average annual production is estimated at 450 pounds per <br />acre. <br />Approximately 3.03 acres is contained in 2 industrial sites <br />used by the Concrete Batch plant for truck washout and material <br />storage. There is no topsoil or vegetation on these areas and <br />K, <br />
