.f
evaluation, which details the proposed location for MW-006. This map shall be appropriately
sized and in compliance with the requirements of Rule 6.2.1(2).
An updated site base map, similar to the March 17, 2016 version is attached as Figure 1. For this
submittal, an 11" x 17" color map is provided. GCC believes this map provides sufficient detail for
the purpose of this submittal and requests a waiver from the minimum scale under Rule 6.2.1(2). If
denies such waiver we will follow up with a 36" x 48" map with scale 1" = 600'. The features of
Figure 1 were laid out by GCC technical staff and are accurate to the best of our knowledge.
Because the mine panels are parallel to the stratigraphic dip, and MW-001A and MW-006 are
similar distance from the northeast end of the mine panels, the cross section through either well is
approximately the same. The attached Figure 2 is to be considered a generalized cross section for
the first two mine panels depicting the proposed MW-006 and existing MW-005 transposed onto it.
The attached Figure 3 depicts details for the two well installation options. If saturation at the Fort
Hayes Limestone- Codell Sandstone contact is obvious during drilling, two wells will be installed as
a cluster (approximately 15 to 20 feet apart). In that case, MW-006 would isolate the Codell
Sandstone and an additional well MW-007 will be installed to monitor the bottom portion of the
Fort Hayes individually. If saturation at the Fort Hayes Limestone-Codell Sandstone is not obvious
during drilling, MW-006 would be installed as a single well screened from approximately 5 feet
above the base of the Fort Hayes to the base of the Codell.
4. The Index Map, dated July 8, 2002, and Pueblo Quarry Fault Maps (not dated) referenced as
Attachment 4 of Section C - Topographic Map, fail to provide the information previously
requested by the Division in its correspondence dated May 24,2016, and fail to satisfy the map
requirements of Rule 6.2.1(2).Please submit a new map addressing these inadequacies. Please
submit a topographic map, which delineates and labels the affected land boundary (permit
boundary), the faults, describing the faults'displacements, and identify the dip and strike of
the underlying sedimentary strata. Please ensure the map satisfies the basic map
requirements of Rule 6.2.1(2).
The attached Figure 1 is intended to address the noted inadequacies. As described above, GCC
believes the attached map provides sufficient detail for this submittal and requests a waiver from
the scale requirements of Rule 6.2.1(2).
The local dip and strike of the underlying sedimentary strata are shown on Figure 1. This fault is a
normal fault, running NE 42o SW and dipping 70-75 degrees to the NE. Slickensides of the fault
plane indicate movement took place almost concordant to the dip direction. The fault is very tight,
0.50 meters wide, with calcite veinlets and stringers near the hanging wall of the fault.
5. Within Section D-Revised Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling Plan, please elaborate on
the protocol for obtaining a sample if the well goes dry before purging three casing volumes or
before the parameters stabilize.
