AGPROfessionals
No DEVELOPERS OF AGRICULTURE
Exhibit B— Site Description
The mine is located in the vacant southwest corner of an approximate Quarter Section of
farmland owned by Cargill. The natural vegetation in the area is native grasslands; however, the
majority of the property is non-irrigated farmland.
The man-made structures within 200 feet of the site include a fence along the south side of the
property, an overhead Y-W Electric Association, Inc. power line south of the fence along the
southern boundary of the property and Yuma County Road N along the east boundary of the
property. There are no other structures within 200 feet of the affected lands.
There are no water resources such as streams, lakes, stock water ponds, ditches, or reservoirs in
the area that will receive drainage directly from the affected area.
Groundwater is not anticipated to be encountered during mining activities. Depth to groundwater
is estimated to be greater than 100 feet below the surface of the proposed mine bottom. Well
permit number 12710-FP shows a static groundwater depth of 167 feet which correlates to a
groundwater elevation at 3813 feet. The bottom of the mine will be no deeper than an elevation
of 3935 feet.
The USDA NRCS Custom Soil Resource Report prepared for the site shows that the soil is an
Ascalon sandy loam, sandy stratum, 3-5 percent slopes and a Rago Loam. Both are classified as
"well drained" with Frequency of Ponding describe as "none". Rago and Accalon are classified
as "farmland of statewide importance" and"prime farmland if irrigated". Both can be suitable
for topsoil with soil additive such as compost. See attached USDA NRCS Custom Soil Resource
Report.
A letter received on November 18, 2016 addressed to Mr. Elliot Russell, Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety from Mr. Steve Turner, State Historic Preservation Officer for
History Colorado indicated that a search of the Colorado Cultural Resource Inventory database
indicated that no cultural resource inventories have taken place in the vicinity of the project area
and no historic properties have been recorded within the subject property. Should human remains
be discovered during mining activities, the requirements under State law C.R.S. 24-80 (part 13)
will apply and will be followed.
ENGINEERING, PLANNING, CONSULTING & REAL ESTATE
3050 671h Avenue■Greeley, CO 80634
970.535.9318/office■ 970.535.9854/fax■ www.agpros.com
