The revision was submitted by New Elk Coal Company, LLC. All review and <br />comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br /> <br />This revision proposes to transfer 3.0 acres from the Golden Eagle Mine permit to the New El k <br />Mine permit. The area in question, the Northwest Airshaft Site, has been given Phase I bond <br />release. The applicant is proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently <br />approved for disturbance. <br /> <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 25 miles West of <br />Trinidad, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br /> <br />T33S, R68W, Portions of Sections 24, 25 and 26 All sections are partially or fully projected by <br />New Elk Coal Company due to the unsurveyed nature of the Maxwell Land Grant. The above - <br />mentioned tracts of land are shown on the USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Vigil, Tercio, <br />and Stonewall. <br />
