PERMIT #: M-2005-061
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: April 19, 2017
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection of the 20 Road Pit; DRMS File No. M-2005-061 operated by M.A.
Concrete Construction, Inc. This site is located approximately 1.5 miles east of Fruita, Colorado in Mesa
County. I, Stephanie Mitchell of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) conducted
the inspection. Mr. Martin Azcarraga of M.A. Concrete accompanied me on the inspection.
This is a 112c mining operation with a 26.99 permit acres. Mining is currently active at the site. The maximum
allowed disturbance is 16 acres for the permit. It is estimated that the disturbance is around 5 acres.
The affected area was marked by fencing that were clearly visible and adequate to delineate the affected area
boundary in accordance with Rule 3.1.12(2).
Topsoil has been salvaged in advance of the excavation and placed in various berms adjacent to the pit slopes
on the north and east sides of the permit area. The topsoil berms appear stable with vegetative cover.
The Post Mining land use is approved as Industrial/ Commercial. The financial warranty held by the Division is
$120,584.00. This warranty is sufficient at this time of inspection due to the amount disturbed. Most of the
vegetation is greasewood. There were two tamarisk growing on a stockpile. The Division recommends
removing these before they become larger.
A scale house was on site and Fuel is being stored on site with adequate secondary containment with a berm
around the tank.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
815011 phone number (970) 242-5025.
