Additional Sheet
2017 Annual Report
Winkler Light Aggregate Quarry
M-1989-065
Schmidt Construction Company
Anniversary Date: April 26
County USR Acreage: The Map 1 total acreage accounting block in the upper left corner has been modified
slightly. Parenthetical notes have been added below the categories to clarify what applies to the USR permit.
This helps to avoid confusion that the Total Affected Land acreage is the acreage that is relevant to the USR
requirements. In fact, roads and roadsides are not included in the USR acreages, but are included in the
Reclamation Permit issued by the MLRB. Thus the USR relevant acreage and its limitations on total USR
defined affected land is equal to the total affected land less the acreage in roads and roadsides. That acreage
increased in 2017 due mainly to expansion of mining. USR acreage does not decline except with the full release
of reclaimed land. The current USR affected land is 86.86 acres of the 100 acre limitation. Thus, 13.14 more
acres can be affected before reaching the 100 acre limitation.
Affected Land Correction from 2016 Annual Report: In the preparation of the 2017 annual report it was
found that the 2016 affected land acreage was too high due to double counting the backfilled area. The object
defining the active mining inadvertently included the backfilled area, 2.8 acres. This was corrected as backfilling
is a reclamation action and therefore not a part of active mining. However,in correcting this the affected land
area appears to have declined. It has not. The affected land acreage on the 2016 maps should have been 2.8 acres
less than what was stated. This has also been corrected on the annual report forms.
Schmidt Construction 2017 Annual Report M-1989-065 Winlder Light Agg Quarry Page 1 of 1
