2.1.12 Boat Transporter
The boat transporter is a scissor type jack which is used inside the retort vessel during the
loading and unloading of boats. The boat transporter rides on two angle rails on the top of
the scissor lift transport cart. These rails mate with two rails inside the retort vessel when
the scissor lift cart is offered up to the door of the retort.
Figure 2.16 - Boat Transporter
The boat transporter includes removable aluminum bar handle which is used to push the
boat transporter into the retort vessel. The hydraulic hand pump attached to the handle is
used to raise and lower the boat transporter table, so elevation of the boats may be
adjusted for loading and unloading.
The boat transporter must be removed from the retort during the retorting operation.
A locking mechanism is supplied on the scissor lift transport cart to prevent the boat
transporter from accidentally rolling off the end of the cart (Figure 2.19). This latch should
be in place whenever the scissor lift transport cart and boat transporter are not docked
against the retort. The boat transporter table must be in the lowered position for proper
engagement of the lock. Release the lock just prior to operating the boat transporter to its
higher position.
U:3
