Pitch Reclamation Project Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board— 2016 Annual Reclamation Report
o To facilitate larger-scale injections, up to five additional recirculation/monitoring wells will
be installed in the Indian Rock Dump, and up to three additional recirculation/monitoring
wells will be installed in the underground mine workings.
• Installation of an in-ground,field demonstration-scale engineered treatment cell, containing
zerovalent iron for the removal of uranium from surface water and shallow groundwater. If viable,
full-scale engineered treatment cells will be used at strategic locations to achieve uranium load
reduction while source control strategies are being implemented.
• Implementation of active management strategies for removal of"treatment residuals" (particularly
phosphate)from surface water, in the event that these treatment residuals are present in surface
water as a result of the implementation of uranium load reduction field activities.
• Performance monitoring at SW-33 and upgradient groundwater and surface water locations to
evaluate the effectiveness of the 2017 field activities.
37
