Pitch Reclamation Project Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board—2016 Annual Reclamation Report <br /> 1. INTRODUCTION <br /> 1.1 Terms and Conditions <br /> ARCADIS U.S., Inc. (Arcadis) is retained by Homestake Mining Company of California(HMC)to collect the <br /> data and other information from contractors engaged at the Pitch Reclamation Project and to assemble this <br /> report on the 2016 remediation, monitoring and reclamation activities. Information used in this report was <br /> provided by:Arcadis, Knight Pi6sold, Energy Laboratories, Inc.,and HMC's Pitch Reclamation Project field <br /> office in Sargents, Colorado. <br /> 1.2 Purpose and Scope of Report <br /> This report was prepared to fulfill the annual reclamation reporting requirements of HMC to the Colorado <br /> Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(DRMS)for reclamation permit number(No.)M-1977-004. This <br /> report primarily presents reclamation, monitoring and remediation efforts performed during the 2016 <br /> calendar year. Documentation of reclamation conducted in previous years is provided in prior annual <br /> reports. <br /> 1.3 Project Description <br /> The Pitch Reclamation Project is located in Township 48 North, Range 6 East, Saguache County, Colorado <br /> (Figure 1). The project consists of approximately 230 disturbed acres situated at 10,000 to 11,000 feet <br /> above mean sea level (ft amsl), on fee land owned by HMC. Per the terms of a land exchange that was <br /> finalized in 2014, HMC has fee title to an area of approximately 1.5 square miles that surrounds the Pitch <br /> Reclamation Project (Figure 2). Run off from snow melt and precipitation primarily flows across the <br /> property via the Indian and Tie Camp drainages which meet at the Sediment Impoundment and the <br /> Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS) permit(No. C00022756) compliance point Outfall 001A(also <br /> known as SW-33). Indian Creek begins below the downstream toe of the Sediment Control Pond <br /> embankment at SW-33 and joins Marshall Creek approximately four miles southwest of the mine site. <br /> 1 <br />
