Morton Lakes DRM&S Permit # M-2008-082 TR-004
Overview of Morton Lakes Technical Revision (TR-004)
On March 6, 2017 the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining &
Safety (Division) approved Ready Mixed Concrete Company's (RMCC)
112c mining and reclamation permit amendment for the Morton Lakes Pit
(DRM&S Permit# M-2008-082). The purpose of this Technical Revision
(TR-004) requests a minor revision to the sequence of the amended Morton
Lakes Mining Stages.
Currently, RMCC is mining Stage 3 located east of the South Platte
River. As Stage 3 mining progressed this spring, RMCC became concerned
that they may run out of minable sand and gravel in Stage 3 before pit
preparation is completed and Stage 4 can be mined.
Therefore, RMCC is seeking DRMS approval for TR-004 by which the
company will mine approximately seven (7) acres of Morton Stage 6 (see
attached map). The portion of Stage 6 to be mined is located adjacent to and
north of the area of Stage 6 (A) previously mined under TR-003. Once
mined this portion of Stage 6 (B) will temporarily be used to stockpile
processed sand and gravel on the pit floor. The reclamation of Stage 6 will
remain unchanged, namely developed water storage.
April 12, 2017 1
