U.S. Department of 0riculture • Page - 1 <br /> Soil Conservation Service 2/8/95 <br /> NONTECHNICAL SOILS DESCRIPTION REPORT <br /> FOR DESCRIPTION CATEGORY - SOI <br /> Survey Area- LOGAN COUNTY , COLORADO <br /> Map -- <br /> Symbol Description <br /> 3 ALDA LOAM This is a deep, somewhat poorly drained soil <br /> with a loamy surface texture and a calcareous loam and <br /> fine sandy loam subsurface texture . Permeability is <br /> moderate and the available water capacity is moderate . <br /> The surface runoff is slow and the erosion hazard is <br /> slight. SOIL CAPABILITY -- Non-Irrig. - IIIw, Irrig. <br /> IIIw. RANGE SITE -- Sandy Meadow. <br /> 29 FLUVAQUENTS Fluvaquents are deep, somewhat poorly <br /> drained soils formed in recent alluvial deposits <br /> bordering the South Platte River channel . They are <br /> nearly level. The area is dissected by old river <br /> channels and by intermittent streams . The surface <br /> texture for Fluvaquents varies from loamy sand to clay, <br /> which overlies sand and gravel at depths of 4 to 20 <br /> inches. These soils have a fluctuating water table <br /> ranging from 10 to 60 inches during winter and summer <br /> months. SOIL CAPABILITY -- Irrig. - VIw. <br /> 39 HAYFORD SILTY CLAY LOAM This is a deep, somewhat poorly <br /> drained soil with a silty clay loam surface texture and <br /> a heavy silty clay loam subsurface texture. <br /> Permeability is slow and available water capacity is <br /> moderate. Surface runoff is slow and erosion hazard is <br /> slight. SOIL CAPABILITY -- Non-Irrig. - IIIw, Irrig. - <br /> IIIw. RANGE SITE -- Salt Meadow. <br /> 128 WESTPLAIN-ALDA COMPLEX These are deep, somewhat poorly <br /> drained soils. The surface texture is calcareous silty <br /> clay loam to loam and the subsurface texture is a very <br /> gravelly clay loam. The permeability is slow to <br /> moderate and the available water capacity is moderate. <br /> The surface runoff is slow and the erosion hazard is <br /> slight. There is a fluctuating water table present . <br /> SOIL CAPABILITY -- Non-Irrig . - VIw, Irrig. - IVw. <br /> RANGE SITE -- Westplain and Alda - Salt Meadow. <br /> i <br />
