Box 1488
Paonia, CO 81428
RE: Bowie No. 2 Mine, Permit No. C-1996-083
151 Quarter 2017 Discharge Monitoring Reports Review (CO -0044776)
Dear Mr. Bear,
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (the Division) has finished
reviewing the 2017 1st Quarter Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs). The reports were
received on; April 13, 2017 (January report), March 10, 2017 (February report) and April
12, 2017 (March report). The DMRs were submitted via email to the Division. The
reports cover the time period of, January 1 to January 31, February 1 to February 28, and
March I to March 31 . The Division finds the reports to be in compliance with Rule
4.05.13(2).
During the months of January, February and March 2017, Outfalls 001A, 004A and 005A
discharged. The data from Outfalls 001A and 004A indicate that there were no
exceedances. Outfall 005A had a maximum pH value of 9.0 in the month of January.
This value is equal to the maximum allowable value for the pH standard. No other values
were at or above the maximum allowable standards at 005A during the I" quarter. There
were no flows recorded at the other outfalls during the 151 Quarter of 2017; therefore,
there were no exceedances at these locations.
This concludes the Division's review of the I" Quarter 2017 Discharge Monitoring Reports for
the Bowie No. 2 Mine, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
04 cow
y, f
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 p 303.666.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us
**
John W.
