PERMIT #: M-2005-077
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: March 15, 2017
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection of the Upland Gravel Pit No. 3, DRMS file no. M-2005-077, operated
by Upland Gravel, LLC. This site is located approximately 4 miles south of Clifton, Colorado in Mesa County. I,
Stephanie Mitchell of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety conducted the inspection.
Nathan Rinderle accompanied me on the inspection.
The permit area is permitted for 134.60 acres with 14 disturbed acres. The permit sign was in place and all
permit boundary markers were in place at the time of inspection. 4 Acres in Phase 3 have been reclaimed at a
3:1 slope and has vegetation establishment. The bond held by the Division is $57,785.00 and is sufficient at
this time. The post mining land use is Rangeland. The Mine Permit area is both on Private and BLM land.
The highwall is currently 12' -17' in depth and current mining is taking place in Phase 4.
Fuel is being stored with adequate secondary containment.
Overall, no problems were noted on this site. The operation appears to be in compliance with the approved
reclamation plan.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone number (970) 242-5025.
