PERMIT #: M-2001-088
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: March 15, 2017
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (Division) normal
monitoring program. Mr. Nathan Rinderle accompanied me on the inspection. Photographs are included with
this report in order to illustrate some of the conditions observed.
The Upland Gravel Pit is located approximately 2.6 miles northeast of Palisade and accessed from 32 Road.
The site is a 112c operation that includes a total of 29.04 permitted acres. The Division currently holds a
financial warranty amount of $61,304.40 for this site. The Division has reviewed the reclamation costs in order
to ensure the financial warranty reflects the actual current cost of fulfilling the requirements of the
Reclamation Plan and determined that the current financial warranty amount is adequate.
Adequate mine identification signage was noted at the entrance to the site.
The affected area was marked by posts and fencing that were clearly visible and adequate to delineate the
affected area boundary. The post mining land use is Residential.
Reclaimed slopes are at approximately 3H:1V slope. Several topsoil stockpiles were noted around the
perimeter of the pit, and various product piles within the pit. An Excavator, Loader, Screener and Dump Truck
were on site. Fuel is being stored on site with adequate secondary containment. A scale house was also on
site.
2 Acres within the permit boundaries have been reclaimed.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone number (970) 242-5025.
