This revision proposes to shift the thickener underflow discharge to another
location. The proposed locations include: 1) A temporary measure to shift discharge to exisiting
approved 1MN Replacement Thickener Underflow Borehole. 2) As a backup plan, a previously
approved basin adjacent to Area 1 Pit be re-excavated. 3) As a longer-term solution, installing a
thickener underflow borehole and connecting pipeline from the exisiting thickener underflow
pipeline. The applicant is proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently
approved for disturbance.

The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 23 miles Southwest of
Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
