Transit Mix Concrete Co. (TMCC) appreciates the
granted extension and provides an update and requests completion for two of the three
corrective actions listed below.
Corrective Action #1:
INSPECTION TOPIC: Backfilling & Grading
PROBLEM/POSSIBLE VIOLATION #2: Problem: Observed erosion rilling and portions of
over steepened slope on the southwest embankment outer face of the current wash
pond reducing the erosional stability and potentially the geotechnical stability of the
embankment.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: Prior to the Corrective Action due date, the Operator must place
additional material on the outside face of the southwest embankment to achieve a
slope no steeper than 3H:1V.
EXTENDED CORRECTIVE ACTION DUE DATE: 3/27/2017
RESPONSE:
On March 3, 2017 personnel at Daniels Sand Pit #2 completed the fill project along the
outside face of the southwest embankment of the current wash fines pond.
Approximately 4,500 tons of fine fill sand/clay particle material was placed from the top
of the road along the top of the dam and then placed and compacted by a track dozer.
Due to space constraints it was not possible to complete the whole area at 3HAV slope,
however the slope was pushed out as shallow as possible. Starting from the east the
slope is a bit shallower than 3H:1V at approximately 3.31-1:1V. As the slope progresses to
the west and north the slope, does get steeper. At the northwest end of the slope, it is
approximately 2.6H:1V. This is due to how close our work area is to our property line
and the elevation of the area. Images of the sloping are included below.
y
