Randall, Executive Director | Virginia Brannon, Director <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br /> <br /> <br />March 30, 2017 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado Parks and Wildlife <br />2300 South Townsend Ave <br />Montrose, CO 81401 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-008) <br /> Technical Revision No. 79 (TR-79) <br /> Revised Topsoil Piles Location <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 30, 2017 an <br />application to revise coal mining operations at the New Horizon Mine was considered complete for <br />the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation, LLC. <br />All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date <br />of filing. <br /> <br />TR-79 is requesting to add an adjacent support facility of 2.45 acres to the permit area to <br />accomodate the movement of topsoil piles 11A and 11B. The additional acreage is on private <br />property owned by the Morgans and the topsoil is also owned by the Morgans. The additional acres <br />will not involve coal extraction. The applicant is proposing additional surface disturbance outside <br />of the area currently approved for disturbance. <br /> <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 1.7 miles Northwest of Nucla, <br />Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br /> <br />1.7 miles northwest of the Town of Nucla <br /> <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle <br />map(s): Nucla. <br />
