Environmental Protection Plan-Amendment <br /> The surface geology beneath the facilities is shown in Figure U-4. The <br /> only known water bearing formation is the Entrada Sandstone. A description of the <br /> geologic media from the surface to the Entrada Sandstone is described below(Kirkham <br /> et.al,2000): <br /> Age Formation Geologic Description <br /> Upper Jurassic Morrison Formation Bentonitic mudstone and claystone containing <br /> thin beds of very fine-grained sandstone and <br /> minor conglomeratic sandstone. <br /> Junction Creek Sandstone Highly cross-bedded to massive,fine to <br /> coarse-grained sandstone. <br /> Wanakah Formation Very fine to fine-grained sandstone and <br /> mudstone <br /> Entrada Sandstone Fine to coarse grained highly cross bedded <br /> sandstone. <br /> Additionally,the Dolores and Cutler Formations are exposed in the northwest section of the <br /> permit area: <br /> Age Formation Geologic Description <br /> Jurassic and Dolores and Cutler Shale,siltstone and sandstone. <br /> Upper Triassic Formation,undivided <br /> Reference: <br /> Kirkham,R.M.; Gonzales,D.M.; Poitras, C.; Remley,K. and Alen,D.
