The original surface hole
locations (SHLs) for the 16H pair have also been slightly modified, the 161-1-1 SHL is
now on the north pad and the 16H-R SHL is on the south pad. The SHLs were
modified to better fit the rig layout and reduce potential directional drilling and
collision issues.
Modifications were made to the 161-1-1 production liner installation plan. NS intends
on running the 4.5" production liner to surface instead of using a liner hanger. An
annular packer will be installed above the intermediate casing shoe to seal the
annulus between the intermediate casing and production liner. This will allow NS to
pressure test the outermost casing to satisfy mechanical integrity testing
requirements as mandated by the EPA UIC permit. NS will keep the liner hanger
method as an option.
The 16H-R modifications include eliminating the 12.25" surface hole and 10.75"
surface hole casing, drilling a larger intermediate hole, and potentially changing the
size of the drill out hole to improve the connection with the 161-1-1 lateral.
The downhole equipment and cementing strategies will not change. Cement
volumes and the sizes of the downhole equipment will be modified to accommodate
the specifications described above.
Should you have any questions or comments, please contact me at (970) 254-1224
or(970) 216-1010 (c), or Kirk Daehling at (888) 464-7632 ext. 114.
Sincerely,
Gerald J.
