Hokestra SWSP Page 4 of 11
March 20, 2017

Table 2: Glover parameters by cell

X – Distance from well to river, measured from the centroid of the exposed area
W – Distance from the aquifer boundary through the well to the river channel
T – Transmissivity of the alluvial aquifer between the well and the river (source: Tgrid0309 GIS
layer from SPDSS)
S.Y – Specific Yield
The total lagged stream depletions from the operation of the Hokestra Pit during this plan
period are 113.3 acre-feet (Table 6 attached) which also includes lagged depletions from previous
mining activities within the lined Cells 2-6 and lagged dewatering depletions.
Dewatering
According to the application, the applicant does not anticipate dewatering any of the cells
during this SWSP period. Cells 2 through 6 were lined in 2013 and received liner approvals from the
SEO on October 7, 2014.
This SWSP will also cover post-pumping depletions from previous dewatering operations that
have since ceased. Cells 2 through 4 were already empty in 2013 and so experienced maintenance
dewatering operations to allow for construction of liners. Cells 5 and 6 were both full in 2013; the
cells experienced both an initial dewatering and maintenance dewatering to allow for construction
of their liners. As a result of these dewatering activities, along with dewatering from previous
years, the river is expected to experience a post-pumping depletion in the amount of 13.5 acre-feet
during the period of this SWSP. Post-pumping depletions will continue to impact the river after this
approval period and must therefore continue to be included in future SWSPs.
Replacements
The sources of replacement water are 3.75 shares in the Rural Ditch Company owned by the
County, storage of excess credits of these shares in Varra Companies’ 112 Reservoir and Hokestra
Pit, and free river water previously stored in lined cells of Hokestra Pit. Depletions occurring in
May through September will be covered by Rural Ditch water that is immediately returned to the
Location X (ft) W (ft) T (gpd/ft) S.Y.
Cell 1 2,083 9,403 14,483 0.2
Cell 2 843 9,246 10,338 0.2
Cell 3 2,320 10,427 14,483 0.2
Cell 4 889 7,590 10,338 0.2
Cell 5 2,725 8,954 15,414 0.2
Cell 6 2,032 8,924 13,775 0.2
Cell 7 1,032 8,902 12,264 0.2
Cell 8 306 8,812 9,364 0.2
Cell 9 495 8,772 8,444 0.2
Cell 10 1,015 8,979 9,540 0.2
Cell 11 390 8,181 8,042 0.2
Cell 12 782 9,159 9,527 0.2
SW Services Pump 2,083 9,403 14,483 0.2
