Veronica Cantrell
Address,City,ST ZIP Code
Telephone Email '
RE: Application M-2016-085-Northern Colorado Constructors,Inc. - Bennett Pit-112c
RECEIVED
3/15/17 MAR 2 0 2017
DNISION OF RECLAMATION
Peter Hays MINING&SAFETy
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Reclamation,Mining&Safety-State of Colorado
1313 Sherman St. Room 215
Denver,CO 80203
Dear Mr. Hays,
I would like to add the following concern to my letter you received dated 3/9/17. After receiving the proof of publication in
the Ft Lupton Press it is clear to me that none of the concerns(valid thought they may be) are not concerns of your office.
Environmental concerns are not excluded from your list of problems you do not concern your selves with so I hope there
is some thought that goes into that process!
I would like to add one additional concern which your board absolutely needs to consider. Our property is located north of
the proposed Bennett. The eastern portion of our property is at the same elevation as the proposed pit. Because the
existing water table is extremely high we are very concerned about the proposed slurry walls that will be needed to dry
mine the pit. In the summer the water table has risen to within 18 inches of the surface of our grass field and corrals. With
the ground water mounding that will result from the slurry walls we are very concerned we will lose valuable ground to
swamping issues. We want to know that this issue has been addressed and a solution to this problem offered prior to the
start of this operation.
Again, I than u for your consideration.
Sinc
eronica
