6. Water Handling
Water handling at the Fairplay Au Pit will be constant throughout the mine's life. Due to the nature
of the deposit being mined, cobbles and gravels are highly permeable, yet clay units will retain and
balance water. Groundwater may be encountered during mining, but is not likely. The water table,
based on neighboring wells, is close to an elevation of 9970'. This is 50 feet below the previously
mined area in Phase I, and 100 feet below the remainder of Phase 1 as well as Phases 2 and 3. The
operator has never encountered groundwater in the current 110 permit area. In the event that it is
encounter, it will be dewatered to the Platte River. This is the only discharge that the site will have.
The mining plan creates a mine with more than enough depth to allow full containment of the 100
YR event (2.86 inches) in the disturbed areas. No portions of the mine disturbance will be allowed
to drain offsite. All surface water will either evaporate or infiltrate. No surface water discharge will
be needed.
7. Schedule of Operations
The Fairplay Au Pit will process material 6 days per week (Monday -Saturday) on a year-round
basis. Material processing will occur from either sunrise to sunset or 7AM-7PM with a I hour
warm up period prior if necessary, whichever is longer. Repairs to equipment will typically take
place during daylight hours but if necessary emergency repairs may occur in the evening. All
lighting associated with maintenance will be downcast.
To mitigate the impacts to the community, all 24-hour activities will occur within the processing
area, except for trucking.
8. Import Materials
Fill material may be accepted into the mine site. Fill material will be spread out on the mine floor or
stockpiled and will be blended into the final landscape. Some material may also be re -sold as
construction material. None of this material can be accepted by the Operator unless the attached
form is filled out by the entity bringing the material to the site. The form provides an assurance that
all material brought to the site is inert and has no toxic or acid forming material above acceptable
limits.
Fairplay Ait Pit March 2017 D-8 Gnz LcwkU.paAnocistm r:a.c
