EXHIBIT D MINING PLAN
1. General Mining Plan
The permit area for the site is 473.6 acres. 457.4 acres of that area will be disturbed as part of
mining operations. Sand and gravel for use in making construction materials products will be mined
onsite. Crushing, screening, and washing of material will all take place on site. Placer gold recovery
will take place as a secondary production when processing material. It is not anticipated that
significant gold will be found. Because most of the site is historic mining, concurrent reclamation
as commonly practiced is not possible. Dredge slopes that are mined will be laid back to 211:1 V
when inactive, the same applies to excavation into native ground. Active mining highwalls may be
steeper. Reclamation of the mining area will begin once final mining is finished in portions of the
mine, when additional mine floor is not needed for operations. Table D-1 shows the area of mining
shown on each mining map. The mining maps show the evolution of the operation over the life of
the mine.
Table D-1 Mining Areas
Mining Stage Area Map
" ./ ? .................
Remaining Dredge Pile 296 Acres C-3
Recovery
Note:Each of these areas circumscribe the area on the previous map.
Mining will stay at least 500 feet from the Middle Fork of the South Platte River. Mining activity
will stay at least 30 feet away from the permit boundary. Mining will be over 1000 feet from CO 9.
All mining will stay above the static water table. Sometime in the future the mine may choose to
amend its permits to include mining below the water table and to expand the horizontal extent of
the affected land, but current reserves will allow mining to stay above the water table in the
foreseeable future.
During most of mining, there will be little to no stripping or removing of topsoil. The Trout Valley
Ranch mine site consists of over 50 million tons of usable rock and cobble in large piles left behind
by the placer dredging operations of the early 20th century. The piles are 20-50 feet in height,
Trout Valley Ranch November 2016 D-1 Gn*lx"kW and A-mwisten,PLLC
