Introduction
The Operator is applying for a 112 Construction Materials Reclamation Permit with the Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety. The Trout Valley Ranch site will be a sand and
gravel mine located less than a mile south of Fairplay, CO along CO Highway 9 (CO 9). The site is
currently leased for grazing cattle and fishing. A large deposit of glacial and river alluvium sits atop
the sandstone of the Denver Formation. Most this deposit was mined for gold in the first half of the
201h century by a large dredge. This left behind large piles of washed rock. These piles will be the
primary source of sand and gravel for the operation. The mine will be on 476.3 acres of land
located in Sections 2, 3, 10, & 11, Township 1 OS, Range R77W of the 6th P.M. in Park County. The
site is accessed from State Highway 9 (CO 9)via US 285. Its location can be seen in Exhibit B.
Mining will take place on 457.4 acres of the 473.6 acre permit area. The entire permit will be
treated as the affected area.
The permittee and operator for this site is Brannan Sand and Gravel Company, L.L.C. The
landowner is Brannan Holdings, L.L.C.
The site will be reclaimed to dry rangeland and lakes following mining. All maps are found in
Appendix 3.
Trout Valley Ranch November 2016 i-1 (;,cg[.ewidd and nssudatn,P,d.0
