Case Narrative
Client: Coors Energy Company
Project/Site: Coors - Keenesburg Mine, CO Quarterly
Job ID: 280-82370-1
Laboratory: TestAmerica Denver
Narrative
TestAmerica Job ID: 280-82370-1
L41
CASE NARRATIVE
Client: Coors Energy Company
Project: Coors - Keenesburg Mine, CO Quarterly
Report Number: 280-82370-1
With the exceptions noted as flags or footnotes, standard analytical protocols were followed in the analysis of the samples and no
problems were encountered or anomalies observed. In addition all laboratory quality control samples were within established control
limits, with any exceptions noted below. Each sample was analyzed to achieve the lowest possible reporting limit within the constraints of
the method. In some cases, due to interference or analytes present at high concentrations, samples were diluted. For diluted samples,
the reporting limits are adjusted relative to the dilution required.
Calculations are performed before rounding to avoid round -off errors in calculated results.
All holding times were met and proper preservation noted for the methods performed on these samples, unless otherwise detailed in the
individual sections below.
RECEIPT
The samples were received on 4/25/2016 9:55 AM; the samples arrived in good condition, properly preserved and, where required, on ice.
The temperature of the cooler at receipt was 1.3° C.
The sample IDs on the container labels received for all samples do not match the information on the chain of custody. The sample IDs on
the container labels list a "-B" suffix in addition to the sample ID listed on the chain of custody. The laboratory logged all sample IDs per
the chain of custody and will proceed unless instructed otherwise. The client was notified on 4/25/2016.
The chain of custody does not indicate a sample matrix type for any of the sample IDs listed on the chain of custody. The laboratory logged
the samples as aqueous/water matrix per the physical characteristics of the sample volume received.
The sample collection time listed on the container label for sample SMW-2 (280-82370-6) does not match the information on the chain of
custody. The sample collection time on the container is listed as "9:02A" while the chain of custody lists "9:50A". The laboratory logged the
sample collection time per the chain of custody and will proceed unless instructed otherwise. The client was notified on 4/25/2016.
DISSOLVED METALS (ICP)
The MS/MSD performed on sample SMW-2 (280-82370-6) exhibited spike recoveries outside QC control limits for several analytes. The
associated LCS was in control and demonstrates that operating procedures were in control. No further action was required.
The instrument blank for analytical batch 280-324566 contained Calcium at concentrations greater than the reporting limit (RL); the
associated samples were not re -analyzed as they contained concentrations greater than 10x those present in the blank; therefore,
corrective action was deemed unnecessary.
No additional analytical or quality issues were noted, other than those described above or in the Definitions/Glossary page.
SODIUM ABSORPTION RATIO
No analytical or quality issues were noted, other than those described above or in the Definitions/Glossary page.
ALKALINITY
The method duplicate associated with batch 280-323866 exhibited RPD data outside QC control limits for Alkalinity. The associated
LCS/LCSD was in control and demonstrates that operating procedures were in control. No further action was required.
No additional analytical or quality issues were noted, other than those described above or in the Definitions/Glossary page.
SPECIFIC CONDUCTIVITY
No analytical or quality issues were noted, other than those described above or in the Definitions/Glossary page.
TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS
TestAmerica Denver
Page 4 of 32 5/12/2016
