Joe Lamanna, File 0430.09
February 10, 2017
Page 2
The transmission pipe was installed with a slope toward the discharge of approximately 0.5% (1
foot for every 200 feet horizontal) to allow for efficient flow from the collection trench to the
discharge point.
Observed drain discharge on February 2, 2017 was estimated at a rate of approximately 100 to 125
gallons per minute, which was approximately 35 days after the structure was constructed.
Drainage system discharge has persisted over this 35 -day period indicating that the structure is
successfully intercepting and discharging ground water. The observed discharge was clean
indicating that the structure is not mobilizing fine material. No ground water discharge was
observed at the Spier Property or on the RMCC land to the west of the Spier property.
The as -built location and general elevations of the constructed Spier Property drainage system
have been presented in the attached Figure No. 1, a longitudinal cross section of the drainage
system has been presented in Figure No. 2 and perpendicular cross sections of the collection and
transmission trenches have been presented in Figure Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
Construction Summary
The Spier Property drainage system was generally constructed as designed. Observed flow rates
are well within the expected capacity of the drain system. Based on visual observations, the
installed drain system successfully intercepts and transmits ground water from the Spier Property
area to the McCann Ditch. Drain discharge and conditions at the Spier Property should
periodically be visually monitored and measured to confirm ongoing performance of the
dewatering system.
