In response to this event operations crews have been instructed to shut flow off to the
circuit or shutdown Mill completely when the High pH process water tank reaches a
nominated high level preventing solutions to overflow into the containment. This will
allow operations to make the proper changes before an event could occur.
In addition to the above a number of changes have been identified to improve the ability
for the circuit to be recovered in a more efficient manner including;
• Increased routine pump monitoring and testing of the stand by pump
• Modify the piping system to allow the pumps to be back flushed using neutral pH
water
• Evaluate a change from mechanical seals to gland seals in the High pH area
• All pumping systems are going to be evaluated in an upcoming pump study
I believe the responses above address the required follow up information.
