4.6 .3.2 Non-Game Species
Specific monitoring practices will not be conducted for non-game species as miti-
gation and land management practice for big game should enhance values for other
species as well. However, rodent depredation on newly revegetated areas could be
damaging to revegetation efforts. Post-mine vegetative sampling (Section 4.4) as
well as continuing incidental field observations will indicate if depredation
from rodents is a problem and if revegetation success is being hampered by these
species.
4.6.3.3 Raptors
Based on the results of the raptor surveys conducted over the past several years,
it appears that mining and reclamation activities at Trapper Mine have not
adversely affected raptor nesting habits. In May, 1985, the Division approved a
minor revision allowing Trapper to survey only the golden eagle and prairie
falcon nest site on an annual basis. Nesting trends for these species will con-
tinue to be monitored.
4-169
REVISED FEB 13 '87
