Section 01545 Protection of Property <br />PART 1— GENERAL <br />1.1 SUMMARY <br />A. This section covers protection of property and its appurtenances, both private and public. <br />B. Contractor shall be responsible for initiating, maintaining and supervising all the <br />necessary protection to prevent damage, injury or loss to: <br />1. The Work and materials and equipment to be incorporated in the project, whether in <br />storage on or off the site, and <br />2. Property at the site or adjacent thereto, including fencing, channels, trees, vegetation, <br />shrubs, lawns, walks, pavements, roadways, structures, equipment, utilities and <br />Underground Facilities not designated for removal, relocation or replacement in the <br />course of construction. <br />1.2 UNDERGROUND OBSTRUCTIONS <br />A. Notify each utility owner and request utilities be field located by surface reference at least <br />48 working hours prior to trenching or excavation. <br />B. Underground obstructions known to Owner are shown on Drawings. However, locations <br />shown may prove inaccurate and other obstructions not known to Owner may be <br />encountered. <br />C. Sufficiently in advance of construction, expose and verify size, location and elevation of <br />underground utilities and other obstructions where conflicts might exist to permit changes in <br />alignment or grade in the event of conflict. <br />1. Notify Engineer in case of conflict. <br />2. In case of conflict, the alignment or grade of the proposed Work may be changed by <br />Engineer. <br />D. Maintain, protect and support existing utilities and appurtenances by shoring, bracing or <br />other means. <br />E. Take such protective measures as the utility may direct where alternations or moving of <br />utilities is required. <br />Protection of Property February 2017 01545-1 <br />
