6.4.4 Exhibit D
Mining Plan
The J&] Stone Pit #1 target sandstone deposit lies within the Travesilla-Rock outcrop
complex in Fremont County, CO, north of Canon City. The Fremont County Soil
Conservation Survey states little to no topsoil, overburden or vegetation is present in an
area where the land is steep and rocky. The target deposit is approximately 20 feet
deep with more sandstone bedrock below the target deposit. The primary commodity is
dimensional landscape sandstone.
The mine operates on an as-needed basis For KrauthCo Inc, landscape projects and
clients. The mine operates year round with minimal closers, less than 21 consecutive
days, for equipment maintenance and personnel vacations. Mining may occur Monday
thru Friday from sunrise to sunset. The mine is a low production operation, mining less
than 70,000 tons per year.
With this amendment KrauthCo extends the permit boundary to encompass 115
acres. Mining will progress through the sandstone outcrops in 15-acre phases. Bond
will be posted by 15-acre phase with each phase evaluated prior to commencement of
mining for vegetation disturbance and potential need to adjust bonding. Two phases are
delineated in Exhibit C. The Division will be notified of subsequent phases within the
Affected Area Boundary by submission of a Technical Revision. Each 15--acre phase has a
life expectancy of eight years. The life of the mine is approximately 40 years.
Mine development will occur as a maximum gauge of 10 vertical feet with 8 horizontal
feet benches along the reserve outcrop highwall. Progressing from north to south,
material will be removed from the outcrop face, forming a ten foot highwall. At this
point an eight foot bench will be excavated and a subsequent ten foot vertical highwall
will be mined, through the deposit to a depth of 20 feet. The mine will daylight to the
south and west from each sandstone ridge. Mining will not occur within any ravines but
the sandstone outcrop, the target reserve, is adjacent to the ravine. During substantial
precipitation events, the ravine stormwater flow may spill onto the target outcrop.
Historic drainage of stormwater flows will be maintained during mining. This will be a
dry mining operation and mining operations will be consistent throughout the life of the
mine.
Lasing skidsteers and loaders sandstone slabs are lifted from the deposit and
transported to the staging area where the stone is sorted by size and palletized. The
sorted stone is loaded onto trucks or flatbed trailers and hauled to project sites or
KrauthCo Inc.'s equipment storage yard at 1068 Red Canyon Road, Canon City, CO. In
the event topsoil or overburden is encountered, the material will be stockpiled for use
during reclamation. At the end of a phase, prior to reclamation, any stockpiled rubble
may be crushed and sized for resale using a third party crushing company's portable and
temporary equipment. The plant will be set up and operated within the staging area.
4
Revised February 10, 2017
