'IE) E6
Annual Report
Mott Gravel Pit
M-1980-049
The only activity in the pit during 2014.was the sale and/or removal of material that was mined
and crushed during 2011. All of the 10,000 ton crushed for Montrose County in 2011 has been
removed. About 92% of the 10,000 ton crushed for us in 2011 has been sold or used on our
ranch and removed.
We do not expect to crush more material in 20adue to the low level of sales.
Weed Control:
Knapweed has been found on the northeast corner of the Permit Area in prior years and treated
with Curtail early in the summer and in the late fall. The plant was not found in the Permit Area
in 2014 or 1915. We will continue to look for it.
Whitetop—We first became sensitive to this being a problem plant in about 2011 when we began
treating it with Telar in the early summer when it is in the early bloom stage. The primary
concentration of the plant was in the non-irrigated and marginally-irrigated part of our ranch
between Muddy and Doug creeks north and west of Clear Fork Road. The mining Permit Area is
not in the described problem area.
We noticed a number of whitetop plants in the Permit Area in 2014. There were no large
concentrations of plants anywhere, but singles or a small number here and there, especially in
areas that had been recently disturbed.
We inspected the Permit Area three times during the early summer of 2014 and 2015 and treated
all whitetop plants found with Escort.
w
We expect whitetop will continue to be a problem. We will continue to look for it several times
during the early summer and spray it whenever it is found.
