NMD (Panels 17-Right through 24-Right,PR03-06 and PR06-07) The same mining method utilized in the southern half of the NMD will be used to extract coal from the northern half of this area. Existing surface facilities, including the EMD ventilation site, and 18-Right and 6-Main North Ventilation Shafts and associated support facilities, will be used for mining of coal in this part of the NMD permit area. WMD (Panels 12- through 17-Left, 13- and 14-Left Inby, and 19- through 20-Left,PR06-07,PR09-08,TR07- 63,TR08-64,TR09-68,TR09-71) Tile same mining method utilized in the NMD will be used to extract coal from the WMD. The existing surface facilities, including the 6-Main North Ventilation Shaft and associated support facilities, along with the new 18-Left Ventilation Installation, will be used for mining of coal in this part of the WMD permit area. WCR (Rock-Slope Access, Development and Mining of Panels WC-411T through WC-911T, and Internal Ventilation and Utility Shaft,TR13-83,PRI 5-11) The same mining methods and equipment utilized in the WMD will be used to extract coal from the WCR. The planned internal shaft will be developed using raise-bore or conventional sink methods. The existing surface facilities, including the NWM Ventilation Shaft, 6-Main North Ventilation Shaft and associated support facilities, and existing mine dewatering systems, will be used for mining of coal in the WCR. (2.) Operation Description (a) Surface mining. A detailed narrative description and appropriate map(s) prepared in accordance with 2.10 describing the land to be affected within the permit area accordingto o the proposed sequence of mining and reclamation Each narrative and/or map shall include a detailed timetable sufficient to describe the various mining phases proposed by the applicant the maximum acreage proposed for each phase of the operations within the permit area must be specified. RESPONSE No surface mining is planned in this application. Therefore, the requirements of this Section are not applicable to either the Foidel Creek operation or the Fish Creek Tipple operation (b) Underground mining. A detailed narrative and appropriate map(s) prepared according to the standards of 2 10 sufficient to describe all proposed surface disturbances to be associated with the underground mining activities within the permit area Each operation plan shall include a narrative cross-sections map(s) and timetables) sufficient to describe the areal extent of the proposed underground workings and the stratum to be affected. RESPONSE The mine portals are located in the NE'/4NE'/4 Section 32, T5N, R86W, Routt County, Colorado. Currently, these portals are the primary access to the mine for men and materials, utility services, and ventilation. Additionally, another portal was driven northeast of the original portals, as shown on Map 23, Mine Plan. This portal provides supplemental access for men, equipment, and supplies into the mine.
