The nearby farmland provides food and protection to big game animals and small mammals as well. The
proposed gravel pit and the surrounding area have a diverse population of wildlife. You should be aware
of this and expect to have bear, deer, mountain lion, fox, skunk, raccoon, and birds among other species
of animals that will use and move through the area. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife website
(cpw.state.co.us)has information regarding living with wildlife and how to avoid human/wildlife
conflicts.
As always, the Parks and Wildlife thanks you for the opportunity to comment on significant wildlife
issues related to development. Incorporation of these recommendations into the development plan will
reduce negative impacts to wildlife in this important habitat. Please feel free to contact me at (970)250-
4503 if you wish to discuss these issues in greater depth
Sincerely,
Bob Morris
District Wildlife Manager
Grand.function
Cc: Ron Velarde.NW Regional Manager
JT Romatzke,Area Wildlife Manager
