CERTIFIED MAIL
RETURN RECEIPT NO. 7015 0640 0007 7571 8356
January 20, 2017 =^41
AGGREGATE
Mr. Peter S. Hays INDUSTRIES
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Permit No. M-1989-029—Longmont Distel Operations - 112c Annual Report
Dear Peter:
Enclosed is the annual report form for year ended December 7, 2016. The annual fee was
submitted previously and received by the Division on November 29, 2016, as indicated
by the enclosed receipt.
All extraction activity was completed at the Longmont Distel Operation in 2011, while
processing, sales and reclamation activities have continued since that time. These
activities will continue in 2017 and into the future as mining of material from an adjacent
operation under Permit No. M-1994-027 (Longmont Operation aka Tull Farm) continues.
As noted in the annual report for permit year ended December 7, 2013, major flooding of
the St. Vrain Creek in September 2013 significantly impacted the Longmont Distel site.
During the flood event, the river breached in various locations and remains flowing
through the site. It was determined that the Creek should remain in its post flood channel
through the site The historic channel will remain abandoned except during high flow
events when some flow may go through the historic channel.
With the exception of the operations area which is owned by Aggregate Industries (Al),
the City of Longmont (City) is the owner of the properties within the Longmont Distel
Operation permit boundary. These properties were incorporated into the City's open
space master plan for the St. Vrain River corridor, which is referred to by the City as the
Sandstone Reach. The City therefore took the lead in the flood restoration project and Al
has coordinated with the City and agreed upon AI's flood restoration and remaining
reclamation role relative to AI's mining operation.
As required by the Division, Al submitted an Amendment Application to Permit M-1989-
029 proposing to update the reclamation plan to reflect the post flood landscape of the
Aggregate Industries
West Central Region,Inc.
1687 Cole Boulevard,Suite 300
Golden,CO 80401
Telephone:303-985-1070 An Equal Opportunity Employer
