SOIL LOSS COMPARISON - BOWIE NO. 1 MINE <br />RECLAIMED VERSUS BASELINE (ADJACENT) CONDITIONS <br />The following calculations are presented to determine if untreated drainage from the reclaimed West Mine <br />and Run -of -Mine (ROM) area are contributing suspended solids to stream flow or runoff outside the permit <br />area in excess of pre -mining levels. Two ponds collect run-off from the West Mine. Run-off from the ROM <br />is treated by alternate sediment control and one pond. <br />The baseline data for comparison are considered to be those conditions that exist in the adjacent area. The <br />adjacent area in this case is oak brush located on each side of the reclaimed areas. The condition of the <br />vegetation on the adjacent areas are obtained from the Harner & Associates July 1986 Vegetation <br />Inventory located in Volume 9A.
