permanent impoundment in TR -37. Monitoring wells TR3 and TR4 were transferred to
landowners, wells TR15 and WR 1 were reclaimed in August 2009 and the sites inspected and
approved in September 2009. CDRMS approved termination of the water monitoring program
with the approval of Technical Revision No 48 (TR 48) on August 20 2009.
H) Findings of the Protection of Hydrological Balance
The observed hydrological impacts at the PSCM are consistent with those predicted in the PHC
section of the permit package. With the exception of the occasional excursion of the previous
numeric aquatic life selenium standard at Outfalls 002 and 004, water pollution is not occurring at
the PSCM, and there is no potential for future water pollution. Steam Site SSG2 (located
downstream of Outfall 002) and steam Site SSF13 (located downstream of Outfall 004) are in
compliance of the selenium stream standard.
Water quality at the alluvial Ground Water Point of Compliance (G)XPOC) wells is within the
prescribed limits, with the exception of iron at Well SFAL72. However, the high levels of iron
displayed at this Well SFAL72 are likely the result of naturally occurring organic matter and plant
debris present in the alluvium. Bedrock GWPOC wells were deemed to be not necessary, based
on the absence of the potential for the mine to negatively impact the quality of bedrock ground
water.
PSCM and Seneca have provided the CDRMS annual hydrology reports (AHRs) since 1980.
Additional hydrology data may be found in those reports.
REFERENCES
Hem, John D. 1989.
