Critical table (a = 0.1) = 1.307
Since critical table = 1.307 (one -tailed, alpha = 0.1, 34 df) exceeds t,,, of 0.213, Alternative Species
Density Test B for BRB PSCM-2 Phase III in 2012 is passed (i.e. the null hypothesis of no
significant difference is supported). Hence, Alternative Species Density Test B is passed.
Regarding Alternative Test C, the similarity index between the lifeform species density values for
the prescribed lifeforms for 2012 BRB PSCM-2 and the Mean Species density (Area -weighted) in
the two reference areas is 76.0 percent (Table I-3, Report in Attachment D). This exceeds 90%
of the standard (0.9 x 70% = 63%). Hence Alternative Test C is passed.
In assessing Alternative Test D, the cumulative number of native species encountered in the
minimum adequate number of 100 square meter (2 m x 50 m) samples (i.e. 23, based on
allowable herbaceous first -hit cover) was 60. This is greater than the weighted reference area
average native species density of 24.7 species per 100 square meter (Table I-4 in the vegetation
report in Attachment D).
In an additional analysis, the cumulative number of native species encountered in the minimum
adequate number of 100 square meter (2 in x 50 m) samples (i.e. 11, based on species density
minus noxious weeds) was 38. This is also greater than the weighted reference area average native
species density (24.7 species per 100 square meter). Hence Alternative Test D is passed in
2012.
Thus, for 2012 species diversity, Mandatory Test A was passed as were Alternative Tests B, C
and D and hence the Phase III species diversity criteria as a whole is passed for 2012 BRB
PSCM-2.
2014 Species Diversity Success Evaluation
Mandatory Test A requires that no single species comprise greater than 60% relative cover in the
2014 BRB PSCM-2 Phase III area. Table 1-5 (Report, Attachment D) shows that the most
abundant single species was intermediate wheatgrass with 52.0% relative first hit cover, which is
below the 60% relative cover requirement. Hence Mandatory Test A is passed.
To assess Alternative Test B, Total Species Density test (probability -adjusted density standard),
the following is calculated for 2014 BRB PSCM-2 Phase III (Table I-6, Report, Attachment D):
