Dugout pond and Sediment Pond #2 appear overgrown with cattails. The operator <br />indicated that the ponds would be cleared during winter freeze. <br /> <br /> <br />INSPECTION: <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS Rule 4.02 <br />o The mine site identification sign inside the entrance to the facilities from County Road 59 <br />was intact, displaying all required information: mine name, operator name, address, phone <br />number and DRMS permit number and contact information. <br />o New permit boundary signs were in place resulting result from boundary change associated with <br />TR46, approved in November2016. <br />o Topsand stockpiles observed were clearly marked with identifying signs. <br /> <br />ROADS Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3), 4.03.2(3); Drainage 4.03.1(4), 4.03.2(4); Surfacing and <br />Maintenance 4.03.1(5) and (6) 4.03.2(5) and (6). <br />o Roads in and around the facilities were in good condition and appeared to function adequately. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE- Rule 4.05 <br />General Requirements 4.05.1; Effluent Standards 4.05.2; Divergence and Conveyance of Overland <br />Flow 4.05.3; Diversions 4.05.4; Sediment Control Measures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge <br />Structures 4.05.7; Impoundments 4.05.9; Ground Water Monitoring4.05.13; Underground Mine <br />Entry 4.05.10; Surface and Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />o Sediment pond 2 and the dugout pond were holding a small amount of water. <br />Both the Dugout Pond and Sediment Pond #2 were overgrown with cattails and scheduled for <br />clean out during winter freeze, (maintenance item #1). <br /> <br />TOPSOIL - Rule 4.06 <br />Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4), Storage and Protection 4.06.3, <br />Redistribution 4.06.4: <br />No soil movement was opserved on the top sand piles.. Overall top sand piles appeared stable and <br />shaped to a stable grade. <br />o Overburden placement is progressing from south to north toward the B Pit. Moving overburden, <br />cutting and filling was not taking place at time of inspection. <br />o B Pit was in process of being backfilled (photo below). Due to extremely cold December <br />weather followed by a chinook thaw, achieving final fill and grade has been slightly delayed.
