New Horizon Mine Annual Hydrology Report
Ground Water
Ground water monitoring is briefly described below. Please see Map 2.04.7-1A for locations.
• GW -N3 monitors the underburden aquifer adjacent to the New Horizon 1 mine area.
• GW -N8 has been mined through and abandoned.
• GW -N9 monitoring has been suspended and the well was abandoned in 2014.
• GW-N16P1 monitors the underburden aquifer directly adjacent to the mining area.
• GW-N17P1 monitors the Dakota coal aquifer directly adjacent to the mining area.
• GW-N18P1 monitors the overburden aquifer directly adjacent to the mining area.
• GW -N36 monitors the overburden aquifer and represents the up gradient condition.
• GW -N37 monitors the Dakota coal aquifer and represents the up gradient condition.
• GW -N38 monitors the underburden aquifer and represents the up gradient condition.
• GW -N39 monitors the alluvial aquifer which represents the up gradient condition.
• GW -N40 monitors the alluvial aquifer which represents the adjacent condition.
• GW -N41 monitors the overburden aquifer up gradient of the mining area.
• GW -N42 monitors the Dakota coal aquifer up gradient of the mining area.
• GW -N43 monitors the underburden aquifer up gradient of the mining area.
• GW -N44 monitors the overburden aquifer and represents the down gradient condition.
• GW -N45 monitors the Dakota coal aquifer and represents the down gradient condition.
• GW -N46 monitors the underburden aquifer and represents the down gradient
condition.
Groundwater monitoring data for all sites listed above can be found in Appendix 2.
Page 3
