EXHIBIT "A"
SUMMARY OF 2016 ACTIVITIES
Updated topographic contours were collected in October and have been updated
in the 2016 Mine map. The permit boundary has been updated to the current mine
coordinate system and added to the 2016 Mine Map.
Reclamation hydro -seeding was completed on 3.75 acres adjacent to the inactive
pit in 2016. Temporary reclamation hydro -seeding was also completed on 4 acres
surrounding the ore stockpile to stabilize slopes and reduce runoff potential.
Approximately 3 acres of previously reclaimed active pit highwall and waste dumps were
disturbed in order to reduce the overall slope to 3:1 (H:V) and promote better re -
vegetation. The extra backfill space will also help as the waste factor has climbed to
more than 40% in 2016. The improved slope is nearly backfilled and should be fully
reclaimed in 2017.
Haul roads were treated almost exclusively with mag -chloride for dust control in
2016. Lignosulfate stabilizer may also be blended at 20-30% in select sections of haul
roads. Roughly 3,000 tons of road base were added to Eagle County 51 with Eagle
County Road Department personnel directing placement and compaction. A street
sweeping contractor is currently being used to help with pavement tracking throughout
the year.
Rock shipments from the "inactive" lower pit began in late October of 2016. The
lower pit has been idle since 2006. Roughly i Million tons of reserves remain under the
current operations plan for the lower pit. An updated operations and reclamation plan for
the lower pit will be submitted to CDRMS in 2017 for review.
Approximately 425,000 tons of gypsum rock were shipped from the mine during
2016.
