Sample adequacy was calculated during 2012 and 2014 data collection based on allowable all -hit
herbaceous cover which is relevant to the cover success criteria. The sampling results and
statistics for allowable all -hit herbaceous cover are presented in Table 2 below. In 2012 and
2014, sample adequacy based on allowable all -hit herbaceous cover was achieved in BRB-1 and
each of the reference area types except for Mountain Brush (note that sample adequacy was met
when Mountain Brush all -hit total vegetation cover was assessed). The 2012 and 2014 Mountain
Brush sample adequacy approach and basis for application to success criteria evaluations is
addressed below following Table 2. Please refer to report text and Tables C4, G3 and G8 in the
vegetation bond release study report contained in Attachment D for more detail.
Table 2. 2012 and 2014 Data and Sample Adequacy Summary for Allowable All -Hit
Herbaceous Cover for the Yoast BRB-1 Phase III Bond Release and Reference Areas (RA).
Area
Allowable All -Hit
Herbaceous Cover (x)
s
N
N,,,;,,
t
BR13-1 Phase III Bond
Release Area 2012
47.8
11.84
35
11
1.307
A RA 2012
53.67
16.65
21
17
1.325
MB RA 2012
28.85 (32.14)
11.36
21
27
1.325
SB RA 2012
30.75
8.79
16
15
1.341
SMB RA 2012
14.44
4.08
16
14
1.341
BRB-1 Phase III Bond
Release Area 2014
60.63
12.98
32
8
1.309
A RA 2014
89.32
21.51
21
10
1.325
MB RA 2014
40.68 (47.86)
21.42
16
50
1.341
SB RA 2014
35.40
11.49
20
19
1.328
SMB RA 2014
18.06
3.94
17
9
1.337
1 Reference Area Types (RA): A = aspen, MB = mountain brush, SB = sagebrush, SMB = steep
mountain brush, WW/AS = western wheatgrass/alkali sagebrush
2 See text below for statistical measure to address sample adequacy and use of adjusted Mountain
Brush data for 2012/2014 success evaluations.
