The outslope of the waste rock dump will be graded to no steeper than 2:1 (FIN). After
the dump and pad have reached the fill size, and the outslope will no longer be changed,
soil will be placed there from the stockpile and seeded.
The features of the waste rock pad will include a steel building to contain equipment, and
store materials and fluids. The building will be approximately 30x60 ft., and have a
concrete perimeter footer, and an earthen floor. It will house the air compressor,
generator, and dry room. The building will be at least 100 feet from the portal. The
landowner wishes for the building to remain as a permanent feature, since it may become
a cabin site. Other site features, such as portable equipment, piled materials, ventilation
fan, etc., will be removed at the conclusion of the mining stage.
All fluids, such as fuel, other hydrocarbons, antifreeze, etc., will be stored the building, in
their original labeled containers, and adequate impermeable secondary containment will
be provided. These materials will be removed at the conclusion of mining and
reclamation.
In stage one (during tunnel construction) the tunnel will accommodate rubber -tired
equipment. For the second stage of the mining plan, the tunnel will be converted to
tracked equipment and track will be installed on the pad (see Exhibit E maps).
Ore will be removed from the mine and placed in the ore dump on the working pad. The
ore dump for the tracked ore cars will be constructed by excavating a ramped slot down
into the dump pad surface (see map). All ore dumped here will be loaded promptly and
hauled offsite to a mill. Since the new tunnel will connect directly to the existing
underground workings, there will be very little waste rock anticipated to be mucked out
to the pad.
The Dunraven portal and tunnel already exist and no fiuther work is needed there. The
tunnel extends back to the Sacramento Level 2 workings, which also connect to other
levels. The pad surface is small and will not need to be enlarged. The portal is safe and
secure; no ore will be brought out, and no new waste rock will be placed on the pad. This
portal will be maintained for ventilation and as a secondary escapeway, therefore it is
being included in the proposed permit area.
All roads to be used to access the site currently exist and will remain as permanent
features, per the landowner's wishes. Drainage controls on the site, such as underdrains
and berms will also remain to help ensure the longterm stability of the roads and the site.
