Exhibit B - Site Description (Rule 6.3.2)
The proposed permit area is located in a forested upland setting at an elevation of 9,990
feet. The surface is gently to moderately sloping.
Canopy vegetation is predominantly lodgepole pine, with some Douglas fir. Understory
vegetation is sparse, but includes Rocky Mountain juniper, buffalo berry, several minor
forbs, sedges and fescues.
The site contains typical upland forest soils (haploborolls) of variable but shallow depths
(0-6 inches).
Permanent manmade structures on or within 200 feet of the site are very few. There are
no commercial or residential buildings or improvements. Road 879 (Halls Gulch Road)
is nearby, as well as numerous minor, unimproved roads, all owned by the landowner
(Gold Links Mining Corp.). There are several scattered old cabin and abandoned mining
structures in very poor condition.
This is a well -drained upland site. There is no surface water in the side drainages of
Halls Gulch, and no flowing surface water in Halls Gulch, except for a brief period
immediately after a significant storm event.
Typical wildlife species of this type of setting inhabit this area, but there are no
threatened or endangered species. There is no wildlife statement included with this
exhibit.
