2.05.6 Mitigation of the Impacts of Mining Operations
(b)(iv) Hydrologic Monitoring Plan
The following monitoring plan is designed to provide data which will
verify the operation will not have significant adverse impacts on the
surface or subsurface water which is within or adjacent to the
permit area. The hydrologic monitoring locations, shown on Figure
4.2-2 are:
Alluvial wells GW -1, GW -3 and GW -9 will be monitored quarterly.
Field parameters will be measured each quarter (pH, conductivity,
temperature, depth to water). A full suite sample will be obtained
annually in the spring except when the mine is in temporary
cessation. During temporary cessation, alluvial well monitoring will
be required during the second and fourth quarters.
Surface water monitoring stations SW -1 and SW -8 will be
monitored quarterly for field parameters (pH, conductivity,
temperature, flow). A full suite sample will be obtained quarterly.
Water quality samples will be taken at surface monitoring stations
SW -2 and SW -5 twice a year; once during spring snow melt and
once during a storm event, if water is available to sample at time of
water sampling. Flow will be taken at SW -2, if water is available at
time of water sampling. Baseline data for SW -1 and SW -8 can be
found in Table 4.2ii . Baseline data for SW -2 & 5 can be found in
Table 4.2-7. During temporary cessation, surface water monitoring
will be required during the second and fourth quarters.
The sediment pond will be monitored in accordance with CDPS
discharge permit requirements. In addition to pond discharge
monitoring, the new discharge permit requires monitoring of any
discharge from the silt fence located at the soil pile and the silt
fence located near the bridge spanning east salt creek, north of the
haul road and east of the bridge. Monitoring the integrity of the silt
fences is also required.
Water samples are typically analyzed by ACZ Laboratories, Inc. of
Steamboat Springs, or Accutest Laboratories of Wheat Ridge for
the following parameters.
PR -02 2.05-61 12/16
