Townsend Ave. <br />Montrose, CO 81401 <br /> <br /> <br />Re: New Horizon North Mine (Permit No. C-2010-089) <br /> Permit Renewal Application No. 1 (RN-1) <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Montrose County Commissioners: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, <br />Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 16, <br />2016, an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at New <br />Horizon North Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment <br />periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from <br />this date of filing. <br /> <br />Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation, LLC proposes to continue surface coal mining and/or <br />reclamation operations on land located approximately 2.5 miles Northwest of Nucla. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br /> <br />Portions of Sections 25 and 36, T 47 N, R 16 W, N.M.P.M.. <br /> <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle <br />map(s): Nucla. <br /> <br />With Permit Renewal Application No. 1, Elk Ridge Mining and Reclamation proposes to continue <br />surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located approximately 2.7 miles <br />northwest of Nucla. No new surface disturbance has been proposed with this application. This <br />renewal application does not propose revisions to the approved mining and reclamation plan, nor is <br />there any proposed surface disturbance outside of the currently approved disturbance area. <br />
