Cultural Resource Site Assessments for Collom Expansion Project Colowyo
2.0 BACKGROUND RESEARCH
Prior to field work, a literature search was conducted through the Colorado Office of Archaeology
and Historic Preservation (OAHP) Compass cultural resource geographic information system
(GIS) database. The search encompassed the available online records for each of the 15 sites
requiring revisit and condition assessment (Table 1). Tetra Tech also reviewed the Collum
baseline report and associated site forms on file at our Salt Lake City office (Lowe et al. 2006).
The research showed that the 2006 baseline report is the last reported visitation and observation
of each of the 15 sites.

Of the 15 sites, eight are either entirely or partially associated with the prehistoric -era. Four of the
sites are either entirely or partially associated with the historic -era. The remaining five of the sites
are caims that have not been formally associated with a temporal period. Two of the sites (Sites
5MF.4008 and 5MF.6128) have been determined eligible for inclusion on the National Register of
Historic Places (NRNP). The remaining thirteen sites have not been formally evaluated as to
each's eligibility potential for inclusion on the NRHP. Each is listed as Needs Data pending site
specific additional work at each location.
