RESPONSE TO DRMS REQUESTS
Request#1: 3.4.2 Water Table
The Operator's response does not satisfy the requirements of Rules 6.4.7(2)(c), 6.4.21(8)(c-e),
and 3.1.5(10) and(11). As discussed below, the Division requires additional information regarding
the hydrogeology of the area of the Eastern Volcanic Overflow Apron (particularly for the ECOSA
footprint), the area identified as "area where drainage tunnels do not cause significant head
change in diatreme"on Plate 9 (Rev. 1), and the area identified as "post-mining Grassy Valley
capture zone on Plate 9 (Rev. 1).
Response:
Since submission of the Hydrogeochemistry Evaluation, ABC has prepared for CC&V's water
rights augmentation case a more detailed evaluation of the water table conditions in and adjacent
to the Cripple Creek Mining District. This evaluation is presented in Attachment 1 to this response.
Of particular note, the work presented in Attachment 1 refined the detailed hydrogeology of the
eastern volcanic overflow apron, the area of the apron for which infiltration emerges into the
western extreme of Grassy Valley, and the larger area for which the drainage tunnels have
apparently never impacted groundwater levels. The revisions included in Plate 9 (Rev.1) largely
relate to these changes, and are the subject of this comment, so Attachment 1 is responsive to
this request.
