N <br />101 <br />It is suggested that the following occur: <br />• Monitor for weeds/noxious species monthly or more often during the <br />summer growing season and treat immediately (see Appendix C for <br />treatment options). See Appendix C for a listing of Colorado's noxious <br />weeds. <br />• Seed disturbed areas when operations cease for a period longer then <br />three months. See Table 5 for temporary seeding mixes. <br />• If the area will not be used intensively for over six months it is <br />suggested a medium or long-term seed mix be used. Table 5 has <br />seeding mixes for a longer period of stabilization. Select an option <br />according to management objectives and the projected time of <br />idleness. <br />• Seed mix can be broadcast and raked or dragged to incorporate seed <br />into the soil. <br />The seed mixes were selected to provide a low cost method to provide a <br />vegetative cover and stabilize soils during pit operations.
