F)l
must identify and outline the entire permit boundary of the Lyons Quarry. Please
revise the Reclamation Plan Map to include the permit boundary, one or more
maps may be submitted for this purpose.
Response:
Technical Revision No. 2 is revised to include an additional map that identifies and
outlines the entire permit boundary and also identifies the area of reclamation
under Technical Revision No. 2.
24. Division Staff is currently reviewing the Engineering Stability Analysis,
comments will be forthcoming.
Response:
Acknowledged.
Adequacy Review No. 2
6.4.8 Exhibit H —Wildlife Information
1. The Division received comments from Boulder County Parks and Open Space in
regard to wildlife surveys conducted at the Lyons Quarry. Please review the
attached comments and explain how the Operator intends to address the concerns
expressed by Boulder County Parks and Open Space.
Response:
The comments from Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) indicate an
interest in maintaining the availability of suitable habitat for Northern Leopard frogs
and several bat species identified on the Hall 2 property. The BCPOS comments
are based on a multiple year survey effort that recommends maintaining some
level of presence of the mine retention pond that appears critical for the Northern
Leopard frogs and bat species.
BCPOS comments state that other ponds within the mine site footprint are
providing important water sources and gives the example of the identified 'Pool V
"that is of extreme importance to the little brown bat (Myotis lucifugus) maternity
colony just west of the Hall 2 property".
The BCPOS comments also acknowledge an understanding that water rights are
in question, and complicated, but the comments then state that any level of
maintaining free standing water on site is strongly recommended.
12
hdrinc.com
1670 Broadway, Suite 3400, Denver,CO 80202-4824
(303)764-1520
