boundary. The mesa face in the buffer area will remain undisturbed during mining.
Mining will begin in Phase 1 on the mesa in the southwest portion of the permit area.
Of the approximately 600 acres in Phase 1 over 400 acres will remain undisturbed.
Please refer to the table of Total Disturbance Acres by Phase for the anticipated
affected acres per phase.
The active mining area will be limited to 25 acres at any one time.
Reclamation will occur concurrently with mining. As mining progresses into a new 25
acre area, the mined out 25 acres will be sloped and contoured in preparation for
final reclamation. This rotational progression of mining and reclaiming will continue
across the mesa and will be consistent throughout the life of the mine.
Earthmoving equipment will vary with mine development. Depending on
depth of plant growth material and overburden, bulldozers and/or scrapers will be
used to expose the target reserve. Loaders will extract the gravel reserve and feed
the processing plant. Bulldozers will maintain slopes and manage stockpiles when
necessary. Reclamation will utilize bulldozers and graders to contour slopes and
prepare surfaces for seeding.
Total Disturbance Acres by Phase
Phase I Phase II Phase III Phase IV
Mining Area 78.0 acres 72.0 acres 75.0 acres 82.0 acres
Built w/
Processing and Stockpile Area 21.0 acres 24.0 acres 39.0 acres
Phase III
Other Mining Related
Disturbance Areas
14.5 acres 11.0 acres 30.0 acres 23.5 acres
Built w/ Built w/
phase
Internal North Haul Road 11.7 acres 5.3 acres
I Phase I
Internal Southwest Haul Road 6.5 acres 4.3 acres 0.9 acres
Built w/
Phase 1 -III
External North Haul Road 18.9 acres
Built w/ Built w/ Built w/
phase I Phase I Phase I
External Southwest Haul Road 27.3 acres
Built w/ Built w/ Built w/
Phase I Phase I Phase l
Total 177.87 acres 116.62 acres 134.86 acres 105.50 acres
The aggregate processing plant will move as mining progresses through the
phases. The plant will be located out of sight of adjacent neighbors on the east face
of a mesa in Phases I and II. To minimize the potential for fugitive dust, the plant
will be placed near the toe of a mesa out of the path of prevailing westerly winds.
The processing plant will include portable crushers, screens and conveyors and will
operate within the disturbed area. The control van will serve as operation center for
employees. All interior haul roads will be temporary, reclaimed when they are no
longer needed by the operation.
6
Revised October 18, 2016
